My new hobby is podcasting, and my new after-hours project is called The Prince’s Podcast. Each week I will ask my friend Lewis Miller, a political scientist, what modern day politicians can learn from The Prince by Niccolo Machiavelli.  Each episode is approximately half an hour long and recorded in a Lewis’ flat, opposite the author’s final resting place in the Basilica of Santa Croce in Florence. We’re currently working our way through the little book chapter by chapter, applying contemporary case-studies, such as the triumph of Trump and the tragedy of Jeb Bush, to Machiavelli’s lessons in statecraft. We will also be discussing geopolitics, including European and middle eastern politics, and I also hope to apply the book’s teachings to workplace management theory, as that is where people are most likely to encounter so-called ‘Machiavellian’ behaviour.

You can find our podcast on Audioboom and in the iTunes store.
